I stripped the amazing paint job off today and put the toptube or frame brace in. I've been told that the top tube gets rid of the weak u shaped frame. I used the same diameter tubing as the frame to keep it more uniform with the frame.

really no need for a top bar on a tube frame like the hobbit or pinto, the tube steel U is more than rigid and strong enough. tommy put one on his race bike because he cut a 'bite' out of the bottom of his U for reed block clearance, which made a week spot in the frame.
ReplyDeleteit does look rad, however, and if you don't mind the added weight there's no reason not to!
ReplyDeleteYea it def adds about 3 pounds but i guess i'd rather have it and not need it ya know. Plus it will make life easier if i ever decide to make it a top tank.
